Q: Why do I need to do the online forms prior to my appointment?

Your appointment is scheduled with our team to be seen clinically. When paperwork has not been completed prior to an appointment then this takes time out of the clinical evaluation which is critical. In some cases if paperwork is not completed prior to the appointment then we are unable to complete the clinical evaluation which results in patients having to return for more appointments.

Q: Will you file my secondary insurance?

We do not file any insurance of any kind. We provide patients with the information needed for them to file their secondary insurance.

Q: Are you in my insurance network and will you file my insurance claims?

We do not participate with any insurance networks in any way. You will need to file your claim with your primary insurance and ask that your insurance carrier reimburse you directly.

Q: Do you take insurance as payment?

We do not accept Insurance as a form of payment. Payment in full is due at the time services are rendered. While dental insurance is certainly beneficial, as a general rule dental insurance plans usually only pay a small portion of periodontal procedures. We do not file secondary or medical insurance. Our practice will provide you with a treatment plan that explains all costs that may be incurred.

Q: Why do I need x-rays?

A visual examination does not tell us everything we need to know. Dental x-rays help us accurately diagnose and treat periodontal problems early before they become more serious. Once we do a clinical examination of your mouth and review your x-rays, we have the whole picture of what is taking place in your mouth. This allows us to develop a treatment plan to help with your condition.

Q: Why do I have to alternate my cleanings between you and my general dentist?

This way you get the best of both worlds. When you visit Chapel Hill Periodontics & Implants we emphasize on your gums and any areas that may be declining. When you see your general dentist their emphasis is on finding decay early and performing restorative treatment that needs to be completed.

Q: Are any of the procedures covered under my medical insurance?

There is only one that can be submitted to your medical insurance but if you have dental insurance you may, by law, be required to submit the procedure to your dental insurance carrier first. The procedure is for a soft tissue biopsy. Check with your insurance providers before you file.
