Root Amputation

Service_RootAmputation

This is a specific procedure that is utilized to maintain a molar tooth when there is localized bone loss around one root. This procedure normally requires a root canal to be completed either before or after the procedure as one root is removed and will normally result in death of the nerve tissue. If more than one root has severe bone loss this procedure is not an option. This can only be completed on molar teeth as they have multiple roots that can continue to support the tooth.
